UPDATE: Police Investigating Death Outside Justice Building

WARSAW — The Kosciusko County Coroner’s office has released the name of the male found Thursday morning deceased in his vehicle parked next to the Justice Building and the cause of death.

Chase L. Higgins, 32, 106 Apple Court, Winona Lake, was found deceased in his vehicle by authorities around 8:40 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18. His death has been ruled a suicide.

Higgins was arrested Tuesday, Jan. 16, by Winona Lake Police on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and resisting law enforcement. While his bond was set at $750 cash, he was released on his own recognizance at 5:15 a.m. Thursday.


WARSAW — Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s office is investigating the death of a person found deceased in his vehicle, outside the Kosciusko County Justice Building this morning, Thursday, Jan. 18.

The name of the person is not being released pending notification of family members.

According to the sheriff’s department the male individual had been booked into the county jail Tuesday, Jan. 16, by Winona Lake Police on misdemeanor charges. He was released from police custody at 5:16 a.m. today and was found deceased inside his vehicle at 8:40 a.m.

The individual had parked his vehicle along the north side of the Justice Building on Main Street. The engine of the vehicle was engaged and the headlights were on.
